Soundway does it again with yet another amazing collection of rare and obscure afro-sounds from the nation of Ghana. If you’ve copped any of these recent Soundway releases, you can already attest to the incredible quality of these compilations, and this one certainly does not disappoint with thirty-seven(!) original and previously un-reissued tracks from a time when highlife, rock, and soul merged and collided with tradition and culture in Ghana. There are way too many highlights too list out here so check the enormous tracklist for audio samples; just trust that this thing is excellent through and through. Gotta give it up to the label for giving us a second look at these otherwise impossible to find gems from a country with such a rich musical history. This is the 5LP box set that includes 2 exclusive tracks not available on CD or download + 2 tracks previously only available on the best selling Ghana Soundz comp and a large, high quality 12 page booklet stuffed with rare photos, label scans, and a detailed and insightful history of this period.
